This paper describes the simulative approach to calibrate an already extremely highly turbocharged industrial diesel engine for higher low-speed torque. The engine, which is operating at its cylinder-pressure maximum, achieve close 30 bar effective mean pressure through suitable calibration between compression ratio, piston-bowl shape and injection strategy. basic idea of study lower ratio even masses boost pressures, with resulting disadvantages in area emissions fuel consumption being partially compensated by optimizations areas piston simulations primarily involve use 3D CFD software Converge in-cylinder a fully predictive 1D full-engine model GT Suite. are based on two-stage 1950 cc four-cylinder used validation initial simulation.
